AFA is looking for a research coordinator to build, maintain, and expand the databases that we use for our apps. These databases include all of the information that goes into the apps and is seen by the user. More specifically, this position would build your experience…
- Build and manage a team of volunteer animal advocate web researchers to address issues such as, where are the humane restaurants in a given city? How can we track the use of marine mammals across the country? Where can we find the most reliable data on animal welfare nonprofit organizations?
- Team recruitment, volunteer onboarding, and ongoing management. This includes things like project assignments, periodic contribution assessments, and keeping the team inspired.
- Database management: Consider how to structure the data for ease of maintenance and expansion.
- Initially, this position will also be a contributor position while the team is being built and the methods are being determined. Contributions during crunch time will also be needed.
Please note that this is a volunteer position. AFA is an all-volunteer organization that brings together passionate, talented folks across the country.

- A willingness to reply quickly to emails and work well with a team.
- The ability to lead and inspire others.
- A committment of 5 hours per week (more welcome!)
- A technology background is not required. But the more proficient you are with research and databases, the better.
